Truls is the founder of DevCap Growth, an investment platform focused on acquiring and scaling middle-market software businesses. He leads all sourcing, diligence, and execution, with a focus on API-led growth, go-to-market efficiency, and operational leverage through AI and automation.

He previously served as COO, CFO, and Board Member at Syxsense, a cybersecurity SaaS platform acquired by Absolute Security. He led the full sale process—preparing diligence materials, negotiating the merger agreement, and delivering a strong outcome for the controlling shareholder. After the acquisition, he joined Absolute as VP of Integration during a transition period, overseeing a cross-functional integration effort across go-to-market, back-office, product, and critical systems.

Prior to Syxsense, Truls was a Principal at Origami Capital Partners, where he sourced more than $8 billion in equity and credit opportunities and deployed over $100 million across software, business services, and financial services. He led or supported investments in companies including Seclore (board observer), CiraApps (board member), and Trailer Park Group (board observer), among others. He also built Origami’s sourcing and reporting infrastructure, including a custom script to integrate DealCloud and Cobalt, which gave him a deeper appreciation for well-designed APIs.

Truls began his career at Wells Fargo, sourcing and underwriting more than $1.5 billion in cash flow and asset-based credit facilities for middle-market businesses. He holds a B.S. in Finance from Babson College.

Outside of work, Truls enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. A commercial, multi-engine, and instrument-rated pilot with over 1,300 flying hours, he can often be found in the air with his family, exploring lesser-known destinations whenever they get the chance.

James serves as Operating Partner at DevCap Growth, where he leads technical diligence and advises portfolio companies on technical strategy, developer experience, and building high-performing engineering teams. He brings deep expertise in evaluating engineering organizations, product architectures, and developer experience, with a focus on driving long-term scalability and enterprise value. 

Prior to joining DevCap Growth, James served as Director of Engineering at ShipEngine, an API-first shipping platform for enterprise Commerce companies. He joined in the company's early growth stage and built the developer experience organization from the ground up, including API designers, technical writers, QA, and developer relations. Before ShipEngine, James was an API platform engineering lead at Postman where he built their first US-based engineering team. 

James began his career as a software engineer in the U.S. AirForce, gaining well-rounded experience across Windows servers, Unisys mainframes, and embedded systems. He then spent over a decade in software consulting with Microsoft and Accenture, working with clients such as Dell, Hilton Hotels, and ABB. His work throughout his career has emphasized maintainability, usability, and the intersection between strong engineering fundamentals and exceptional developer experience. 

At DevCap Growth, James combines a rigorous technical lens with a product-oriented mindset to assess and support companies in leveling-up their engineering organizations. He partners closely with founders and CTOs to evaluate architectural soundness, product velocity, and readiness for enterprise scale, while also providing ongoing guidance on strategy and organizational development. 

James currently lives in Puerto Rico with his wife and son. An avid ocean sports enthusiast, he enjoys surfing, efoiling, and sailing. He has sailed extensively throughout the Caribbean and Central/South America.

At DevCap, Abhijit advises portfolio companies on product architecture, product strategy, and building high-performing organizations.

Manjul is a Senior Advisor to DevCap Growth and the Co-Founder and former Vice President of Engineering at Seclore, a global leader in enterprise data security. A seasoned technology entrepreneur, she has spent over two decades building and scaling breakthrough cybersecurity products and leading engineering teams recognized for innovation and execution.

Manjul is passionate about transforming ambitious ideas into simple, usable products and fostering cultures where people and technology thrive together.
